Department Overview
The Department of Surgery at the University of Louisville School of Medicine has 10 outstanding divisions (general surgery, otolaryngology, transplant, communicative disorders, pediatric surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, surgical oncology, thoracic and cardiovascular, vascular surgery and endovascular therapeutics, and hand surgery), with more than 80 full-time faculty members and three residency and six fellowship programs, we have more than 60 surgical trainees each year. The Department of Surgery is in the top 30 percent in NIH funding, totaling more than $2 million, with a total of more than $7.5 million and endowed professorships and research endowments totaling $30 million.
