DIVISION OF PEDIATRIC SURGERY

The Division of Pediatric Surgery at the University of Louisville is clinically busy, averaging 4,500 operative cases each year. In addition, the service cares for most of the regional pediatric trauma and burn patients in Western Kentucky and Southern Indiana.

Members of the Division have been actively involved in international, national, state, regional and local activities. All members of the Division are actively involved in the education of medical students and residents.

Kosair Children's Hospital has a very active Child Advocacy Department, which provides the impetus for the Safe Kids Coalition in Jefferson County. Kosair Children’s Hospital is a regional Cancer Center for Children approved by the American College of Surgeons. Pediatric cancer patients are involved in national center studies through the Children’s Oncology Group.

The Division has six full-time faculty and an ACGME approved Surgery Residency Program that train’s one resident every two years.
